The browning blr, along with the marlin 39a are the 2 BEST lever rifles being made today. Imo the henry is not even in same league as the browning. To begin with, the browning is all steel and walnut, unlike the henry. Althou henrys are more cheaply made,I've heard that they shoot well. To me-quality and solid steel trumps a cast zinc or brass frame.

I am not educated on the Browning but the Henry is entirely made in the USA if that would be a deciding factor at all.

I agree with stalkingbear, Marlin or Browning are the best lever 22 now being made. I have heard ( and looked at) several horror stories with Henry guns. Ok not horror but not quality workmanship.

I own a Henry lever .22. This .22 is very accurate and the action is smooth and unfailing. Yeah its not refined like a Browning, but for around $250 this gun looks pretty darn good and kills whatever varmint a Browning does.

I'm going to have to agree with the others on this one. I owned a Henry, the cheaper blued model, and it was a nice gun "for the price". Very smooth action, nice wood and extremely accurate out of the box. Crappy trigger though and I didn't care for the plastic barrel ring.
That being said it in no way compares to the quality of a browning or a marlin, they are just better guns period. If you can afford one I wouldn't even consider a Henry unless you really want the brass look of the golden boy. When talking about the golden boy however for the money I think you would be better off with a Browning or Marlin. I think the marlins are made in the US as well, wouldn't stake my life on it though.
The Henry I owned was under $200 and it was a nice gun for that price. Step up to the 300-500 dollar range and I wouldn't even have considered it as a choice. Then again I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a lever action .22 either, for that kind of money I would be looking at a nicer bolt action or something. But that is just me.
