.240 Weatherby? .257wby? 6mm-284?
Anyone have any experience with this round(.240)? at the range? in the field? accuracy? devastation?
Kinda thinking the .257wby is "too much" of a good thing....I know guys love it though, the .240 while still red hot....seems more appropriate, though in marketing I suppose bigger is better? though in the real world....?
Also how popular is the 6mm-284? growing?

What's your intended use? You're in Illinois, so can't use it for deer unless you go out of state. So, is this to be a varmint rig/paper puncher?
I've got a buddy who uses a .257 Wby/Sub-MOA for deer, and he loves it.

I have a 6.5X.284 and it is just amazing.I still like the 6.5mm bullets better but to each his own.If I could do it over I think I would just get a .264 win mag and call it good.

Well I don't reload and don't really ever plan to. So factory ammo is a must....and not factory/specialty ammo like from some custom ordering.....does anyone load the 6mm-284? or 6-06?
I know guys love the .257wby, both are superfast, the .240 and .257, the .257 just seems like way too much powder....like unneeded/unused.....I originally was thinking it would only be a varmint/antelope setup, but now thinking shot placement is everything and with 100gr noslers or some other premium load that it'll probably be enough on anything up to the size of caribou....though then again do I have to think about bears when caribou? etc... so perhaps it would be left to the realm of just antelope and mule deer. I had originally just thought of a .243win...for this purpose, coyotes, antelope and maybe mule deer.
Though living in the real world....the .257wby is way more popular and ammo actually is fairly common to locate vs the .240, also spending 50-70/box for .240 ammo vs say $15 for .243, considering just the .243 and boring it out down the road if I really wanted to?
