favorite .22 lr ammo?

im leaving in a few to pick up a savage mark II G w/ a bushnell 3-9x scope at dix for 190 dollars and i wondered what the best ammo for plinking is? for squirrel/rabbit? and for coon, possums and occasional coyote?

Get 60 grain bullets for coyotes and 20-40 grain for anything else

Depends on what your gun likes for ammo. Your gun will tell you. Try them all and see for yourself. My guns like the Winchester Power Point ammo.

My Remington 541-T and Ruger Mark II prefer CCI High Velocity hollow points...
My Remington 552 prefers CCI Green Tags or CCI Shorts...

yeah i just got some federal champion and it looks pretty good. i just mounted my scope and gonna sight it in with the federal champion

Try several different brands, it makes a huge difference...With a scope, most bolt action .22s should be able to be tuned to keep all their shots in 3/4 inch at 50 yards, and many will keep them under or around a 1/2 inch...

My 10/22, and Henry lever both shoot 36 gr. winchester xpert .22 with great accuracy, its cheap and duds are almost unheard of for bulk ammo. Give it a try.
