338 Federal

RE: 338 Federal
Never shot one so can't say for sure but running a 210/338federal load shows it producing 22lbs of free recoil with 8lb gun. This would be comparable to a heavier loaded 06'. Just for comparison sakes the 7mm 08 in a 8lb gun with 140gr load produces 13lbs of free recoil.
As far as the 375H&H goes i find them pretty decent. 338wm class I suppose, however i have shoot some 338s that were down right rude as well. Having firedthe 416 rigby that is a good jump in free recoil, so much so I wouldn't shoot it for the first time from a bench. I might even suggest open sights. That .416 chucking a 400gr bullets doesn't have any tap qualities it lets you know your shooting a big bore.
