Default PT 1911 Dream Gun!

Sorry to hear all you guys having problems with your Taurus guns. As for me, I guess I got lucky. I two Kimbers a Covert 1911, and a POS Pro Crimson Carry with a 4.5 barrel. The Covert is okay, but extremely over priced $1200.00! The Pro Carry has gone back to Kimber twice, the slide stop is a piece of #$%%, the throat on the barrel caused many FTF's, it does shot pretty accurately when it shoots. I don't carry it because it is not reliable. Now, my PT 1911 has never had any kind of problems. I've shot every ammo out there though it and it just keeps humming! The slide to frame fit is perfect with no movement whatsoever. I have made some mods to it which now makes it an awesome gun, that I carry with utmost trust. I've installed Wilson light weight match hammer, Wilson sear, Nighthawk solid medium trigger with stainless bow, a Schuman match barrel with Ed Brown bushing, Crimson Laser grips and fiber optic front sights. I've also polished the stainless steel frame and slide. I will include some photos soon. This gun has been awesome out of the box, and now with the upgrades it easily surpasses Kimber quality, accuracy and reliability! Love this gun.

Taurus is not a quality manufacturer. This is a base line, lower cost alternative for those who what a handgun for occasional plinking. When you are using a firearm for protection or self defense I would suggest waiting until you can afford a quality handgun that is more reliable.

Anyone know if Taurus' revolvers or semi-autos are known for better quality than the other? ie more problems with their semi autos than revolvers?

For some reason when I think Taurus I think revolver, not semi-auto.

I know my admin at work had to send her revolver 38spl back due to bad timing. And my brother sent his raging bull back twice.

I don't buy taurus.

WOW!! I have a Taurus PT 24/7 Pro DS, 9mm . . and it has performed great. The ONLY issue I have ever had with it is, cheap ammo (that crappy Wolf ammo). Everything else I've fed it, it spits out great (RWS, Federal, Winchester, etc.).
