Short Action Mags

RE: Short Action Mags
The WSM's will be around for a while, the 300 is selling like crazy from the distributor I spoke to(I love mine and hope it's here to stay), and the 270 is doing well too. Remington's best hope from what I've seen is the 7mm SAUM, but it seems they have just been beat to the punch! They are all good guns but most often first to market wins, and that is the main reason the 7mm WSM is trailing, because it took so long to get it in the publics hands.
A ray gun huh? Well, you can keep it unless it goes BOOM, and gives the shoulder a good nudge. Oh well, that'll just my my 300 WSM an antique and I'll just be a "primitive weapons hunter"<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

I think they are here to stay. People are in the Magnum frame of mind now. You could write Magnum on a pitch fork and it would sell. I think the 270 WSM will do well because it is a Magnum but the recoil is not bad. Remington will win the 7mm race and Winchester will win the others. I think the 223 and 243 SM's will do well. I am still watching for the 257 SM and I think Remington may bring that one out. I am a 25 fan I would like to see a super short action like the 223 and 243 SM's in 6.5 as well. The are 1/2 inch shorter that the other SM's. I think the only thing that would turn this tide would be a drying up of the toy money if the economy goes down the tubes. Right now people still have the money to expierment.

IMO not only will the 300WSM and 270WSM be around for a long time but I think that in the long run the 7mmWSM will also. I wouldn' t be surprised if Winchester offered a 338WSM and a 257WSM next year. The Super Short Magnums and all the SAUM will probably die within a few years.
