Winchester 1300
I recently purchased a Winchester 1300 12 gauge, and wonder what your thoughts are on the gun. I have limited expierience with Winchester shotguns. Also, i am having trouble finding choke tubes and was wondering if anyone would know where i could purchase them.I thought i read somewhere that browning invector choke tubes were interchangeable with winchester tubes. Anyone know if this is true?
Thanks,HoytMT

I have a 1300 Turkey with laminated wood stocksthat I bought new several years ago and have killed several turkeys with it. I absolutey love this gun and will never part with it. As far as chokes it came with 3 or 4 but I bought a Hastings .655 for turkey hunting. And yes I believe you are right about the Browning Invector chokes fitting the Winchesters as long as it is not the Invector Plus chokes. You should be able to order chokes from Cabelas or Bass Pro or find them at local gun shops.

One of the guys i hunt with has one. I hate that gun. It has more recoil with 2 3/4 no6 pheasant loads then my Mossberg 835 with 3 1/2in no4 Turkey loads. And everyone knows a Mossberg with 3 1/2in shells has alot of recoil.

I have two. I have had their original fully rifled deer special since it came out almost 20 yrs ago. never jammed, never rusted, nothing. looks like new. I also have a synthetic that I use for a duck-back up to my browning. the 1300 is my favorite pump gun and I own an 870, 835 and an ithaca.

I have an old one that I've had for over 20 years and love it. I've even used it shooting sporting clays. The only complaint I have about it is mine is only chambered for the 2-3/4" shells.

I have one of the NWTF commemoratives. And that's what I use it for. I have never had one second's trouble with it. I performs flawlessly for me. Mine shoots best with # 5 shot from Win. in 3". The turkeys don't like it at all.

I have shot the gun and really like it, the pump seems to work itsself. However, i do have to agree with Retaks. I patterned the gun the other day with Winchester extended range 3" 5's and the gun does have alot of recoil. I think this may be due to the aluminum alloy reciever. My gun looks alot heavier than it is. But i feel like it points well and fits perfect in my hand. I paid 250 for it, as i bought it off a friend and it has only been fired about 15 times. He included the factory imp cyl. mod and full. And he also threw in the extra full strut stopper turkey tube. It patternsgreat with the turkey tube. Wish i had a digi to show you the pics with but i have spent all my money on the gun and shells. Im 19 and work for minimum wage so its takes a while to save up money. I am happy with my purchase so far. I also bought a box of extended range turkey as i mentioned earlier, and that really broke the bank. But i am a hunter, and anyone knows that this isnt a sport you get involved with to save money. It's well worth the money in my opinion. I love guns, and all types of hunting. I cant wait to save up another 250$ and buy my buddies redone 721 remington in .270. It includes a 3-9 bushnell. Is this a good deal. The gun is mint and will shoot dime size groups, but it is older. Which almost makes it more appealing to me.....Thanks for the help guys, Much appreciated.

Yeah my father has one that I used to turkey hunt with one year. This one is really light and shooting 3 inch mag turkey loads beats the hell out of your shoulder. I didn't really care for it, but mostly because I'm a Remington guy and grew up on 870s so to me all the buttons on the 1300 were in the wrong places haha. That being said its a good shotgun, we shot an undertaker choke out of ours and my dad killed a jake at 52 paces with it.
