A criminal perpetrating a crime, whether its with a toy gun or real gun deserves to be shot.

As far as kids playing with toy guns I see no problem with it. I don't know if we need exact replica's for these kids to play with, but banning all toy guns is stupid.

And we all know how effective the laws passed by the geniuses in the State of New York have worked out. You have to be a cop or a member of a crime syndicate to get a pistol permit in NYC, yet the cops in the apple estimate at any given time, about half the citizenry is running around armed, law or no law!!

Keep yore powder dry!!

DG,
that is the point YOU DON'T let your kid go around the streets with a toy gun. They play in the house or the yard or where ever close by where a parent has an eye on them. If such was the case, there would be no need to ban toy guns.

At first glance this seems to be a touchy subject, with good points on both sides. However, when you get past the "innocent kids being killed argument," banning toy guns is a BAD idea!
Yes, this IS a prelude to banning our real guns! They are already teaching kids in school that it is not "cool" to hunt or own guns, undermining parental authority!
Banning toy guns is just teaching kids that a gun is a BAD thing!
Instead of wasting time, money and energy teaching against guns, they would be better off teaching kids to respect elders and authority! Teach them it is NOT "cool" to point anything that even resembles a gun at anyone, especially not at a policeman!
The examples of people being shot while they were holding a "toy" gun don't hold water either! These people were already in the act of commiting a CRIME! If they are lucky enough not to get shot, they would still be charged with armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon!
As I said, teach 'em respect for the law! Common sense teaches people NOT to do certain things like yelling "fire" in a crowded building, or pointing anything resembling a gun at a home owner, store owner, or policeman!
If laws that are already written were enforced, we would never need to ban guns, toy or real!

In Delaware criminal code the language is "if it is capable of instilling fear"covers using toy guns for armed robberies, etc.

I thought the same thing. The public school system in some areas is doing their best to turn out as many rabid little commies as possible by jamming politically correct crap down their throats from day one. Telling kids that toy guns are bad only reinforces the propaganda that they are forcefed when away from home.

Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms... who's bringing the chips?

Sounds like another anti-gun tactic to me. Good luck.

JagMagMan, if you think they haven't already banned the real guns (in NY!!), just try walking down the street with one!! Hell, in NY, you have to have a state pistol permit, which takes at least 6 months to get, you can't even have a pistol in your own home!!!

Keep yore powder dry!!
