Difference between 870 Express and SPS?
I was wondering what's the difference between the 870 SPS and Express. I recently bought an SPS supermag, and now my friend's looking for an 870. I saw an 870 Express Supermag, almost identical to mine, but it was $300 less. Just wondering what the deal is.

Ithought the difference was the stock and fore arms. The Express had the satin wood stock and fore end (now they're laminated I think)and the SPS had the synthetic stock and fore end. When I had my 870 Express 12 ga. I bought a slug barrel that was for a SPS model and it worked fine. Had the same matte finish too.Mine was the regular 2 3/4 and 3 inch model. The super mag. could be different. [/align]

I can't really tell a difference. I bought mine probably 20 years ago as a combo with the wood stock and forearm. It was OK until I hunted in a bad rain storm. When the wood dried out I had a crack the lenght of the forearm. A synthetic replacement set made by Remington from Cabelas for $80 took care of that problem.
