Default What Rifle Caliber's left to get?

Some I have, Some I don't, but this is my ideal list, any shortcomings you see? What else do I need? or don't need? Rifle list....don't worry about shotguns/muzzleloaders.

.22 LR
.22-250 Rem.
.243 Win.
.270 Win.
.300 Win. Mag. (might trade for a.300 WSM lightweight model)
.340 Wby.
.375Ruger? H&H?
.416? (which .416? Rem? Rigby? Ruger/wildcat?)
.458 Lott

.577 NE (dream double, maybe one day...)

also have a 6.5mm Rem. Mag and a .30-30, though I don't include them in my ideal list.

Yah... got the 22LR in there, no surprise.

Nice cartridge spacing.

Regarding the upper end.... go to www.accuratereloading.com and go to African or Big Bore forums, do a search and you'll find plenty of guidance according to different philosphies by people that actually have rifles in the cartridges you are thinking of versus folks that are simply hypothisizing.

Everything after the 300 Win Mag, I would get rid of. Add the 30-06, .223, .308, and some sort of 7mm.

If it is your first centerfire rifle or if you only have a couple rifles, then the 30-06 is worthy indeed; however, as you acquire a wider range of chamberings and start specializing more, then the jack-of-all-trades 30-06 starts to lose ground to its team mates.

In the aforementioned line up, I'd take a 300WinMag over a 30-06 any day, even though I have a 30-06 and it has served well.

EKM, you sound like you have similar philosophies as me, what do you think of the new .300 WSM? I have the .300 Win. Mag, and the .340 wby, I'm thinking a lighter setup in the .300 wsm as my lightweight mtn rifle would be a nice combo, rather than 2 large, 300 and .340 rifles.
