What Rifle Caliber's left to get?

RE: What Rifle Caliber's left to get?
I, too, wondered about the lack of a .308 or .30-06. But, I understand that between the .270 and the .300 Win Mag, you've pretty much made them redundant.
I'd consider switching out the .300 Win Mag for a .300 RUM. That way you can use the variable powered loads offered for that cartridge. Remington has loads for the .300 RUM that equal the .30-06, that equal the .300 Win Mag, and that exceed the .300 Win Mag.

It seems the 300WSM gives up little to the 300WinMag except arguably at the heavier bullet loadings.
If you are shaving ounces off of a rifle then there is a certain logic to it that and also one of the "carbon-fiber" barrels (Christiansen?) would be a consideration.
I'm thinking that kind of lite, lite rig probably won't point very well, but that is the trade off.
I have a 6.5 pound 338WinMag --- waspy little thing on recoil--- doesn't "lay well" on sight target --- not one of my favorites, at least not until I get too old to carry my usual gun weight and by then I'll probably start embracing a muzzlebrake.

I'm not certain if I want the .375 H&H or the new .375 Ruger, course I don't think ruger builds a good looking rifle for their new cartridge, but I really like the ballistics so far. Wish they would at least load it in the rifle they chamer the 375 H&H, 416 and 458 lott in....or something really nice like it.
Read an article at empire rifles about wildcatting the .375 ruger to a .416 ruger, personally I think there is way less competition amongst the .416's, and this caliber would be wide open for an improvement.

I looked at the Ruger 375 and went with the CZ 375 H&H because of the weight. The CZ weighed 2 more pounds than the Ruger, and thats a lot less recoil for my skinney a$$.
