3.5" shotgun

RE: 3.5" shotgun
I have a Browning gold hunter 3.5" in mossy oak shadowgrass, I love it, it is my favorite gun. Had it for 2 seasons now and have never had a problem. I have only shot 3 or 4 boxes of 3.5's through it, can't really tell that much difference between them and the 3" in my opinion. Patterning has helped me alot though, there are some brands, although very few that I have found, that don't pattern worth a crap through my gun. I suggest you go with an auto when you buy, because after a day of shooting my shoulder doesn't even know a shot was fired.

Amen to that on the Auto. On some of these birds, it pays to keep firing until they are dead. I used to use my 870 waterfowling, and did drop birds. But I had much better follow thru on a auto. I know its because I am aticipating racheting that next round. But hey it works for me.

I have a Mossberg 835 Ulti Mag 12 gauge 3.5, 3, and 2 3/4 inch chambers. It is a awesome shotgun, takes abuse in this here southeast Louisiana swamps, and delivers drop dead patterns. Would not have anything other shotgun. 1950 kid I know where you are coming from, these guns are great.

Amen Ruddy duck!
Personally I can't imagine putting up with the totally unnecessary expense, recoil, etc. of 3.5s. You may gain pattern and a few yards, but that comes with problems too. Like cripples, birds falling in hard to find places, trouble with species and sex id. etc.
I vote for taking ducks in close. All I shoot is 2-3/4" 1-1/8 loads for ducks.Kill geese too. Might use the big ones like has been said for long range geese or turkeys, but totally not for ducks.

DG,
Sorry to butt in, however, since you don't have a email listed I have little choice. I'm hoping to help your 375 friend over on the thread: "Are we overgunned? Was Jack O'Connor right?" Is he/she for real?
