Depends on what bear you're talking about. For Black bear you can use pretty much any .44 load and get the job done but I'd go with the 300gr (not the hollow point) for brown bears. You need a very solidly built bullet to penetrate deep through tough muscle or even bone if need be. Stick with a truncated, core bondedor Keith style bullet to get the job done and make sure you're pushing it at least 1300fps

Federal Cartridge has hard cast flat points as does Core-Bond and Buffalo-Bore. Its the melpalte or the size of the flat point matched to the bullet weight. It could be 280, 300, 320, etc just check their web sites.

Do they make the rounds your talking about in a factory load? If so who makes them, I couldn't find them? The only 300 grain I found was Hornady hollow points. What's a Keith style bullet?
Thanks Bryan

I PM'd you...
It looks like others have answered for me though. Corbon and Buffalo Bore make some very stout factory rounds...more than you will ever need on any type of animal. They push the limits so read carefully because certain rounds are recommended for certain guns.

I like the 300 Rain HGornady XTP for a jacketed bullet and the 300 grain LBT WFN for a cast bullet. This is mainly because I keep them around for the ML and I just as well shoot the same bullet in my SBH. I have had good luck with the 250 Nosler Partition for Blakies and deer. Also used it for one elk.
