Is the 10mm auto here to stay? Or fading away?

If I am not mistaken the 10 was made for the feds so they would have more stopping power. They ran upon the over penetration problem, also they did not like the recoil. So next thing you know the 10 round was "tamed down".The BREN TEN was and is still a good weapon.I have the full size glock in 10 ,got one in .45 also.I like them both.A guy at the gunshop I go to said the 10 is supposed to be a powerful as my .41 mag. I just don't see it.I think they are here to stay if you don't reload you can still get the "STOUT loads if you buy Norma ammo.JMHO

The 10mm was not originally made for the feds. It was adopted by them after the infamous Miami Shoot Out. I think this was a little after Doranus&Dixon folded due to poor management and the Bren Ten even though a good gun went out of production.
But the adoption of it created a second chance for the 10mm round and the downloaded version of the 10mm for the feds gave birth to the .40S&W round.
I used to have a S&W 1006, was a good gun. Wish I still had it as I'm seeing about becoming a reserve then to full time police officer.
I like Glocks but the bigger framed ones just don't feel right to me even though I got large hands. Plus they are sorta on the light side for the full power 10 loads I like.
I'm thinking of getting one of those EAA Witness 10mm's. I had the .45 and that was not a bad shooter. Except for the frame mounted safty it's nearly identical to the Bren Ten.

I just have tried to keep up with the 10mm over the years. At one time I wanted a Bren Ten.
When I had the EAA Witness .45 it always seemed to eject hot loads better, not that it jammed just further out there.
Standard loads just barly made it out of the ejection port like the whole gun was set up for a real powerful round.
So the 10mm version ought to be great.

I had three 10mm's A Glock and two S&W 610 revolvers which shot both 10mm and 40 s&w. I loved them and the 610 was the most accurate revolver I ever shot. The feds spent a ton of money developing it then loading it down and finally came up with what the already had,a pistol that matched the 45 auto which they had all along. I have had all the Glocks and most all of the other so called defense guns and shot thousands of rounds of comat shooting. My choices if my life depends on it is a good 1911 45 auto followed closely by a 4 inch 357 mag revolver with 158 gr lead hollow points at about 1200 fps. The Glock 10 mm was the most accurate of all my Glocks.

Mines here to stay, I know that. I too believe there must be a comeback in the making based on the demand I see on the auction sites for them.
Owned mine a lot more than I've shot it, but that's true of all my handguns lately. Still in all, it (Delta Elite) is the handgun that goes to hunting camp every year.

It will always have a cult following. It is actually quite popular here in alaska, you can even buy ammo for it at walmart and most sporting goods stores. I have a custom 1911 in 10mm that I used for bowling pins and a backup gun while hunting. I have also carried it a few times for concealed carry, its tough to conceal with its 6" comp barrel, but having 4, 15 round mags is a lot of firepower if you need it. I think it is about the best auto handgun caliber for hunting/self defence. I think part of the over penetration problem was due to the FBI wanting to be able to shoot thru a car as one of their criteria. Penetration often went hand in hand with a calibers ability to put a subject down right away. Its also great for deer, black bear, and any other medium sized game. Its too good a round to completly die out.
