RE: .41 Magnum - SW VS Ruger
I have a 41 Magnum almost paid off on lay away. I went with the Ruger. When I want strength I buy Ruger when I want refinement I buy S&W. When it comes to Magnums, I want strength. JME.

Yeah Pavomesa,I hated losing the "classic Hunter".They finally caught the little prick that did it .I have to go to court in March. The .41 is the only way to go in my book.Seems like the .44s make the palm of my hand sore after a lot of rounds. Those .41s don't.They are still pretty impressive when they go off.My wife calls mine "That Thing" She always says "Are you going to shoot That Thing?...............
James,I like the Rugers It's just that the S&Ws just always felt better in my hand might just be in my head...I have shot some pretty stout loads in mine never had any problems.
NAVET,My dealer did have onelike pictured at his shop.I will check to see if he still does.It was relly pricey though.I could not believe it.If I am not mistakenseems like he wanted somewhere around $900.00 for it .That just seemed out of this world to me .

I've had both, worked on a bunch of each, and I think the ruger is the best built gun on market. I've never seen a ruger that won't group at least 2"-1.5" at 50 yards with a few tweaks and working up a good load. Honestly after several side by side accuracy comparsions, the rugers stays right with s&w.

Well I went and did it. I ordered my gun and should have it this Thursday (21 Feb). I ordered a 6.5" Ruger Blackhawk and I cannot wait. I set aside a couple boxes of ammo allready so I can shoot it before the ink dries on the paperwork!! Luckily the store has an indoor range downstairs.
I wanted a SW but at a cost of almost 2x as much I went with the Ruger. That and not being able to find any Model 657's.

You should have went with the S&W. If you need any 41 magnum dies, let me know. I have 2 sets of carbide dies for the 41 magnum that have never been used. I will ship you a set for $30 if you need them. Tom.

I'm glad to see other 41 fans out there. I got mine fifteen years ago (Ruger Redhawk). I was looking for a 44 mag but found a scratch on this 41 and was able to get the store to knock fifty bucks off of it. I was easily able to use some blueing paste to make the scratch disappear. It already had Pachmar grips installed, so it fit my hand very well. I have never regretted buying the 41 instead of the 44. I use 250 gr HC Corbons to hunt with....they are powerful enough for anything I hunt.
I have owned S&W pistols and revolvers in other calibers and respect the quality there also. I don't think you can go wrong with Ruger or S&W.
