Default Gun Show...Good deals?

I went to a gun show yesterday to see if I could find a good deal on a gun. I didn't really find what I was looking for this time. What is your experience? Are these guys honest or are they trying to put something over on people that don't know what they are doing? I find it hard to trust some of the sellers.

Are gun shows really the place to find a good deal on a gun? What is the best deal you have made at a gun show?

Be very cautious at a Gun Show...I usually buy new rifles at one and negotiate the price rather than pay their posted prices. I was just at one Saturday and there were no bargains believe me. I had a couple of rifles and a pistol to sell and as usual they(dealers and individuals) were trying to steal them. I did pass up a deal and really regret it now but my Buddy passed on it also and then we were really steamed in the parking lot afterwards...Winchester M-70 Stealth 308 win with a Leupold 4.5x14x50 for 550 bucks(No I am not making this up). I have made no really earth shaking deal at any gun show... the Stealth would have been it had I made it.

I was looking to buy some surplus ammo but there wasn't much to be found. They all wanted to split up what they had and make a killing off of it. If I want surplus I will order it. Even brass was higher than what you can buy elsewhere. I did find some 308 brass that I bought. About 250 for $20. Other were much more money.

At any gun show know your prices before you go.The dealers and sellers are there to make a profit.Making a profit is one thing but robbery is another. If you let them they'll steal you blind.

I have made some good deals at the gunshows ,but as others have said you need to know prices and don't pay to much . I make a lot of my deals with people that bring guns to the show to sell .The dealers won't give very much for it so its easy to overbid the dealer . The dealers don't like it but thats thier problem I have got into a lot of deals that way .

I pretty much only buy brass at gun shows- and sometimes some used reloading equipment. I also pick up cheap slings- I like the web garand slings, and also stripper clips, and sometimes gun parts that I need and can't find anywhere else. I can usually get brass for the same price that I would get it from midway but don't have to pay shipping. Alot of the guns at shows are junk- shot out rifles, milsurps that are poorly sporterized, sporting rifles that have the look like the stock was refinished in the owners dusty basement. The rest are usually overpriced- I see garands that go for $800-1000 that I could get from CMP for under $600, and other milsurp rifles and accessories that are usually overpriced by at least 50%.

Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms... who's bringing the chips?

if you know what to look for and know prices of guns good you can make out decintly..ive only been to a few but i know alot about guns and the people i was with sell them for a living and i learned more and they told me what was decint and such..and alot of guys will trade or negotiate sometimes..they are one of the best places to find old military stuff...now i do more sitting behind the tables and selling instead of shopping..i dont have money to shop anyway...that will all change soon when i turn 16 and get a job..getting a good blue book on used guns can be very helpful for used rifle shoppers...alot of people mark up just above blus book value...good luck...

I have found many good deals at gun shows you just have to take your time while looking, and like others have said know what price your looking for. Good luck.
