Try the Canadian Airgun Forum. They have lots of recommendations but for me Crossman makes junk for rifles.Get a RWS[Diana] and have some German quality.Specialty Shooting Sports has RWS 34/.22 of sale for $225.I got one for my son for Christmas. He killed two porcupines and a Snowshoe Hare with it since getting it.Buy your gun in.22 cal as they hit harder.Power can be upped with a new custom spring if needed...............Harold

i would stay away from the pointed pellets, they are known to pass through small game and only leave a wound, kind of like shooting a deer with a field point on an arrow. i would reccomend a round nosed or flat point pellet. they will give you more energy transfer to the target.

The best BC are the Crossman Premier14.3gr HP and it's more about penetration on 20-30lb critters with a air rifle.Drill them in the head.Out of my Wiehrauch HW80K/.22 800fps 1" lumber is blown right through at 20 yards.Grouse can either be head shot if your eyes are still sharp enough or shot through the wingbutts/back and they stay put with no meat damage. You can eat right up to the bullet hole. And its quiet. They make some in .25 cal that will handle coyotes at 30 yards [headshots] and .50 for wild boar and deer out to about 75 yards.Air rifles were used in war since the 1600's in large calibers and if the pellet didn't kill you the Doctor would back then! The Austrian army had air rifles with airtanks built into the detachable butstock[recharged with a bike type hand pump]and they simply changed to a full stock in the middle of battle much like todays clips.Napolean's troops were terrified of airgunners because they didn't give away the shooters position like black powder. What you don't see ,can kill you................Harold

I'm new to this forum as well and it looks great.
Due to the 500 FPS restrictions you have up there I would suggest that you buy a rifle in the .22 caliber as you willl have a lot better knock down power than you would with a .177. I wopuld also say that you should be looking for an RWS gun as they are extreemly well built especially the Diana models that are german built.
