Browning BLR Vs. Weatherby Mark V
I can get either for 500.00 bucks, the browning (.308)is in perfect condition, never even been shot. The weatherby is well maintained and beautiful(30-06), it also has a redfield4-12 by 50 scope. Which one should I buy. I will be adding pics soon. Oh yeah, i will be mainly whitetail hunting with this gun.
Thanks,
Dusty

You do have a dilemma. No chance that Santa will spill an extra $500 in your stocking?
Both the .30-06 and .308 would be good calibers for whitetail. I can't recall hearing anything negative about either of the rifles themselves. Seems they're pretty rare in the used rack, so they must be fairly well-liked by their owners?
I'm sure someone here will have an opinion about the BLR vs the Mark V.

If that is a 6 lug Mark V like the one I owned run like H@@l from it. BLR is a jewel the other is a turnip. I purchased one in 270 a few years back 1999-2000 period in a synthetic stock. I took it to the range and shot it and the bolt wouldn't open correctly. Sent it into the Weatherby Service Center in TN and they worked o it.Polished the chamber and sent it back. Same Crap when it came back. SEnt it to Kookafornia directly and they sent it back still not fixed. Finally I called them and told them the problem and they had never test fired it when they originally looked at it. They took it to the range and they called me back and told me they were sending a replacement. Total time owned 3 months ...total time in transit and in the shop 1 1/2 months. I traded it on a 700 KS in 280. This was the first WBY MKV that I Had screw up but I can guarantee you that other then a VAnguard they won't burn me again...My recommendation buy the Vanguard in 30-06

Yet, I have owned a BLR (.358 Win.), and it was a superb rifle. With my handload using the 250-grain Speer spitzer, it had a MV of 2450 FPS from a 20" barrel, and it shot this load into 1" @ 100 yards.
