10/22 hands down. It beats the Remington Jam-O-Matic 597 any day, every day, and twice on Sundays. Besides like everyone else says, the list of aftermarket accessories is endless. A barrel and stock swap is so simple, a caveman can do it.

i have a remington 597,go with the ruger,i wish i had. the accuracy does go to the 597 i might add. i had to take the bolt hold open part out so i could close the bolt with a full mag.and i only put 5 in the mag so it wont jam,and its only a year old!!!

10/22 all the way. I have an earlier model purchased used at some tiny gun shack in Indiana....refinished,slapped a scope on her and this thing is accurate!!! not sure if the older ones were more accurate but its
DEADON at 100 yrds. Also the older ones came with a better quality stock. I have fired this thing a gazillion times, never had one problem! plus the mods available!!!!

I personall like my 597 better than my 10/22. But my 597 is a 22 mag w/HB. You just have to keep the action cleaner in the 597 because it has two slides. I know the 597 is "known" to jam with the magazines but i have never had a problem with mine. It calls for 8 rounds but i usually only put in 6. Makes a difference
