I would not discount the Marlins. I have one that I bought at Walmart about 15 years ago for $119 and it is a real shooter. I cannot say anything bad about the CZ's though. Mine is very accurate and a very good looking rifle but it is more than double the price of the Marlin. Good luck.

Can anyone tell me how the good is the Savage Trigger? I went to Dicks to look at the savage. Very nice looking gun, but you cannot dry fire them there. )-: So I cannot get a feel for how good the savage triggers are. I figure if I have to replace the trigger I am better off to get the CZ. But if the savage trigger is good and can be easily worked on I will get the savage. Does anyone know?

Cheers,
Chris
I'm extremely impressed with the trigger on my Savage Mark II. It felt so slick right out of the box that I've never fooled with it. The general consensus, however, is that it's a snap to do if you feel compelled.

I've also been thrilled with the accuracy ofthis rifle,as well.

Adams, thanks for the suggestion on the Marlin. I own one, but not very impressed with it.

Folically, thanks for letting me know that you are pleased with your savage.

The Savage Mark II (G for a less expensive one or the FV for $40 more) FV Heavy barrel is the way to go. Mine is a shooter and shoots as well as mycustomized fully decked out Ruger 10/22, AT A FRACTION OF THE COST. With the Accu-trigger, the Savage will be approximately 2 pounds right out of the box. Best factory trigger on the market, and the safest as well.
