shotgun barrel pinning
Has anyone done this? I'm thinking with retirement 6 months away I will have extra time on my hands. I have the machinery and knowledgeto do the work, working around machinery for the past 30 years. Just never done anything like this to my shotgun. Pinning a barrel is drillng, tapping, and attachingthe reciever and barrel together. Makes the barrel ridgid to the reciever increasing acuracy. So, anyone done this? Paid a gunsmith to do it? Did it help?
Sorry I should have stated this is for improving your pattern shooting slugs. I have a rifled cantilever barrel.

RE: shotgun barrel pinning
As a gunsmith,I honestly think the results DON'T outweigh the trouble. The only time it would help is if your barrel has a lot of "slop" or excessive movement with everything tightened.

RE: shotgun barrel pinning
As another gunsmith I wouldn't do it to any of my shotguns.
I really don't know what the point would be unless you wanted to delegate it is a slug gun only and wanted to wring out every bit of accuracy that might be available.
Unless you are shooting slugs, shotguns were never meant to be "accurate".
