.17 HMR
I've heard of the caliber coming out mentioned on here, but I just read an article in Shooting Times (Feb 2002) that really breaks it down. A 17 grain bullet traveling at 2550 Fps (the author chrono'ed his at 2573 fps) at the muzzle and Sounds pretty impressive and I can't wait to have a little fun with one. I hope they don't be such sticklers with the ammo selection and prices as some new calibers have been doomed by. Just wondering what everyone else thought of it and how they expect it to hold water?

RE: .17 HMR
I found the Hornady ammo on a website and the prices were as follows
Hornady 17 Caliber (.172) 25gr HP Bullet, 100 per box $12.83
Hornady 17 Caliber (.172) 25gr HP Moly Bullet, 100 per box $16.29
looks like the ammo is going to be pretty cheap to me. I can't wait to get my hands on one.

Muzzila,
your thinking of a .17 remington bullet thats a 25 grain and its a center fire. This new round is a .17 calibre rimfire based on the .22mag case.It does use a 17 grain V-MAX bullet. From what the artical says its extremely accurate and hits pretty hard but it does blow around a bit in the wind. Its said to have absolutely 0 recoil flatter trajectory then a .22 mag and around the same muzzle blast as a .22 lr.It sound like a great little round to me.Ill be buying one when they come out mid this year.

As I have said before on this particular topic, for the sake of those who rush out and by this souped up pellet gun, I hope it succeeds. You can't reload rimfire ammunition.
I also hope nobody sneezes within 50 yards of you while you are shooting it.
