I would get a Browing A-Bolt in 30-06. You cant beat the accuracy of a Browing A-Bolt for it's price.A 30-06 will kill any big game animals including a Moose without over powering the smaller big game. You just need to pick the right size bullet for the job when it comes to a 30-06.With a deer a 150 Gr. whould be fine and a 200+ Gr. bullet for Moose. It also does good with brush.I whould get a Leupold VX II 3-9x40 new or you can go on ebay and pickup a nice used Leupold with more power and maybe a VX III.

well I took all your considerations and I looked at a bunch of other models you guys did not metntion. The good news is I found a rifle I liked and one of u picked it out. I ended up buying the Tikka t3 lite in 325 wsm. This rifle is not only light for long days walking, shoulders more comfortably than any other rifle, and has a smoother action than any other bolt action I looked at today. And believe I looked for 5 hours before making a purchase. I equipped this bad boy with a burris fullfield scope. I'm very happy with the choice I made and would like to thank all of you for your input.

dont let anyone tell you a bolt action is better than a semi auto, i would have loved a bolt, but i found a browning bar .30-06for $550, adn that thing is shootin quarters at 200yds. also the .30-06 can take anything you want it to, big bears, deer elk, anyhting, there is a wide variety of bullet weights.

I do not have any exp with the 325, but it should do the trick! enjoy. My T3 Lite in 300WSM had a pretty good kick compared to my "heavy" 300WM. I added the Limbsaver Pad, which helped a lot.

oops did i write 325?
I meant 300... Is the recoil that bad that you needed a limbsaver pad?

Recoil is what you think it is. Personally, I don't think the recoil on the .300 is bad at all. me and a buddy went to South Dakota for Pheasants, Deer and Coyotes a few years back. I got up thee a couple days late, and missed the end of the deer season, and ouy Coyote guide cancelled. We ended up shooting Prairie Dogs. He shot a .300, I shot my .308. We shot eachothers rifles. I bet we ran through at least 6-8 boxes of ammo each.
Now, I will tell you his rifle is a Rem 700 PSS. It has a Bull Barrel, and weighs a little more than a standard hunting rig, so that will eat some of the recoil. Besides that, No, i don't think the .300 hits too hard on the shoulder, but that is just my opion. Others will tell you it kicks likea mule.

Sounds like you got a nice rig there. Hope that it works for everyting that you want it to. Good luck.
