Default Good deal on BAR's

I got a good deal on a couple of Browning BAR's "Stalkers"?I went to the Bass Pro in Cincinnati Ohio last week.Regular price was 669.99 on sale for 599.99. Then if you apply of a BP credit card they take additional 10% off which brought them down to 539.99.I decide @ that price to get a 270 Win and a 30-06.I went into another store and saw the identical rifles for 699.95. It feels good coming out on top for a change.

Soark,The only problem is you can only shoot one at a time.I agree you can never have to many. When you see a decent buy you might as well take advantage of it.I just hope my Ruger's will accept a Browning in their domain LOL.Bill Ruger is probably turning over in his grave.

Ruger, I am glad to see that you are getting wiser as you get older, not knocking the Rugers by no means. I still have my old 1977 model BAR .30-06 and would not take anything for it. I hesitate to guess how many deer I have taken with this gun. It is well proven.

Smokepole,Believe me I know there are other guns then the Ruger's.Though I do like Ruger's about the best. I have been buying and trading guns for over 30 years now.I have a couple of the fancy BAR's with all that pretty wood. Both are unfired.I've known allot of people who have BAR's and swear by them. These"Stalkers" next year will be going afield and the Ruger's will be holding down the household.

well you can shoot more than one at a time, but accuraccy suffers to about a 100' groups at 100 yards.

Prop, what do you mean accuracy suffers to a 100 foot group. Ruger, I like you, am a Ruger owner. With a guy like old departed Bill designing guns you can't go wrong. I am envious of you of those Browning BAR's you speak of though.

I think Prop means that when you shoot two rifles at the same time "one in each hand" that your groups are going to suffer just a little. RIGHT PROP!!!!!

Smokepole,It shows you have good taste if you're a Ruger Owner.I must have exceptional taste.LOL.........These BAR's are nice.I ran into a problem with the .270 already.I was mounting the scope on it. The Stalker has metal inserts for mounting the scope bases since they have the LW Aluminum receivers. One of the inserts must be defective. The third hole from the muzzle, the screw won't tighten.I called Browning. The service tech said it has happened on rare occasions and that they will correct it when I send it to their Arnold MO facility. He wants me to send the base and they will mount it once they correct the insert making sure everything is in order.Goes to show no matter make or model you buy ,sooner or later there will be a defect. The base that I was going to mount on the 270 ended up on the 06 and all the screws tightened.Proving that the problem was in the insert and not the screws that came with the Redfield base.
