130gr in either a Nosler ballistic tip or a 130gr core lokt. All you need in .270 for the game you listed.

If you were gong to use just one grain of factory ammo for deer, antelope, and coyote, what grainand what bullet would you shoot? Keep in mind long shots and wind. I know there is no "magic bullet", but what one would you choose for all three? Thanks!
I would use a plain 130-grain Remington Corelokt. For the game you listed, no super-dooper bullet is needed.......

Thanks for the input! Looks like 130 grain is the ticket. I bought a couple of boxes of cheap 130 grain federals to get started with. Will the cheaper shells like the remington corelokts still work for long range shots? With a lot of practice, how for will that 270 be good for? I know it depends onmy personal shooting capability, but in general what range can I expect with practice, being on the conservative side?

A buddy of mine shoots Federal 130gr Nosler Ballistic Tips, in his M-70 Winchester. He's killed deer, coyotes, bobcats, and groundhogs with it and that load.

I've loaded my 270 with Nosler 130 gr ballistic tips over 55 gr of IMR 4350 for years. This load is accurate out of my rifle and I have taken coyotes and deer, both mulies and whitetails from literally point blank rangeto 'way out there'.

This question opens an interesting subject. I reload for 25-06 and I've tried alot of different powder / bullet combinations. I settled on 100 gr. nosler bt's and partition bullets. Usually can hold around 1" with three shots.
Can never seem to do much better with anything else. I think the rate of twist is too fast for lighter bullets and the barrel is too short to burn enough of the slow powders to get best velocity with heavier bullets.
So my question is do most of you guys (and girls) have one basic load that you use all the time? I know were all going to try things now and then, but sooner or later does everybody have one go to load?

I would take a .270 to the nearest gun shop and trade it for a 25.06.
