The only downside to the nova is if you want a slug barrel for it. You can get them, but you could by a mossberg combo package for what the barrel alone costs. Great guns though if you can get over the ugliness factor..

RE: new turkey/deer gun..which one?
I would go with the Remington 870. I have a Rem 870 SPS-T with thumb hole gun that I use strictly for turkey hunting and love it. I had the Mossberg 835 UltiMag and sold it to get the 870. The Rem. 870 is a tried and true gun...there has to be something good about it seeings how it is probably the most sold shotgun.
As stated earlier, the Rem. has a lot less recoil than the Moss. They both are great guns, but I would go with the Rem.

I don't turkey hunt so my experience is with deer shotguns only. I have a Remington 1187 and a 870, both with field barrels and slug barrels. I also own a older Mossberg 500 with the same set up. I just added a 50 cal muzzle loader into the mix too to try this year deer hunting........Who the hell needs 4 different guns to hunt deer with?? Me I guess . Either the 870 or the Mossberg model would work fine. I don't know much about the newer Mossbergs but my 500 shoots good. If I had to pick a "go to" gun it would certainly be the 870. A little higher priced than the Mossberg but it will last you a lifetime. Let us know what you end up getting.

I have a Charles Daly tactical pump I used to use at work. I found out I can get a barrel for turkey and another rifled for slugs pretty cheap. The gun itself was pretty cheap, so I won't feel badly about mistreating it. I know there are folks out there who don't care for Charles Daly, but I never had a problem with it.
