Well you can do what I did. When I picked up my last rifle, I took the scope with me. I like to get the scope as close to the barrel/receiver as I can so I can really 'get down' on the stock. On this rifle, a Savage 11, the low rings were plenty high enough for my Burris Fullfield which is also 40 mm.

Weaver bases set the rings up higher than other systems, go with the low rings...

thanx guys...nchawkeye..i thought they looked higher than my leupold bases...i think there are mediums on it now and the scope sits high enough to get away with low. i know the lower the better...if the lows dont work i can always take them back and get mediums.

I always try low rings first. In fact I even have a set of old super lows I try on everything...lol. I have got lows on all of my 40's.

Just work your way up, you want the scope as low as possible.

i went to walmart to grab ammo today...they actually didnt have any 22-250 ammo but had weaver quad lock mounts and bases. looked like good quality...they were medium. put them on(was cussing about being quad lock at that time. they pretty much have 4 rings (8 allen screws) instead of the typical rings. but i like them. seem nice and sturdy. the mediums are probably a shade high..could most likely get away with low, but the scope is close to sitting on the barrel..so lows may been too low

thanx for all the replies.
