I have a 7MM Mag. Savage with the package scope on it and can shoot all day with my friends who would only own a Leapould. I believe there's good ones and bad ones in any make the you buy. Mine has been on my gun for 7 years now. No fog, no loose reticles, no movement from zero.

I bought one of the new-style (the Master Series) Simmons Aetecs last year to see what the fuss was all about (several awards, multiple magazine articles, etc.) and put it on a 25-06.

It's a good scope.I was pretty impressed, as were my hunting buddies. And for less than $200, it's comparable in quality to some costing twice that. One of my friends bought one for his new 7mag and swears he won'tgo back toLeupolds.

I'm no expert, but the new design (Master Series) is significantly better than the 'old style'. In addition to the Master SeriesAetec, Ialso have a 'regular' Aetec on a .22 and the new ones are noticeably better.

I wouldn't consider the Master Series to be 'junk' by any means.
This is what I was curious about - a real "consumer evaluation" of those new-design Master Series Simmons scopes, NOT some writeup in a gun rag!

Glad to hear they work well for people who bought them!

I miss the old Aetecs with the 5 inch eye relief. They were indestructible and they lost that feature with the new series. I have yet to try the new series but I stocked up on the old ones when I heard they were changing. When it came to the Aetec, there was nothing broke but they tried to fix it anyway.[:@]
