Thomas Jefferson founded the Democratic party, and you think he was anti-gun? Heck, he wrote the Declaration of Independence!

You really put out an un-educated comment there.
Well now,

lets think about it for a minute. The founding fathers where a group of folks who had just fought a war against a tyranical government that want to tax them unmercifully without reprensentation. they had just took up there hunting rifles and threw done with the most powerful nation in the world. They didn't think that it was fair for the overstuffed, blow hards in england should sit on their collective arses and tell us what to do. They didn't want people who had lived previledged lifes who had no sense of what the real world was like pushing them around telling what they could say.Telling us what the press could write.Telling them what religion they had to follow. And they damn sure didn't want themto disarm us. So the writers of the constitution decided that it was so important that they wrote it out in plain english. "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

The interesting part of that is the "a wellregulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state". Many people have debated this part. The anti gun crowd wants that part to mean that only police forces and military need weapons. But it doesn't say that, it say militia. Think about it in context. They had just formed militia's to fight the Brits. Where these militia's made up of police force or military for the government? No they were common folks taking up their hunting weapons and goin to war to fight for freedom. So what they are saying is: regular folks need weapons so that if the overstuffed presidents and senators and representatives get too big for their britches and try to tax us to death or over regulate us to the point of suffocation we can form up a militia and beat there butts down. Its all about checks and balances.

I for one am getting tired of heirs to the heinz fortune, or oil well fortunes, or whatever fortune who have never worked an honest day in their lives telling me what I can or can't own, and then expecting me to pay them a tax on my own property. You would be surprised if you done the research how much our government has become like the one we rebelled against in 1776.

just in case the CIA or Secret Service is prowling around: I AM NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES CITING A RIOT OR PLANNING TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT. I am simply exercising my first admendment right of free speech.

Great post. A key to all the rights in the Billof Rights is "the people." Where ever that phrase is used it means just that, all the people.

"I for one am getting tired of heirs to the heinz fortune, or oil well fortunes, or whatever fortune who have never worked an honest day in their lives telling me what I can or can't own, and then expecting me to pay them a tax on my own property."

Bingo. This anti-gun stuff started in 1934 with the Firearms Act. By 1934 the gangster era was at an end and fully auto weapons did not need to be banned.Feel good stuff like the 1968 law, the AWB, Brady Bill, and administrative restrictions put on importation of guns by presidents have done nothing to reduce crime in the USA.

What really grinds my gears on this issue is that people want to ban the gun because it looks dangerous. I can guarantee you that 90% of the people pushing for the ban on ARs and AKscan't tell you why "it's more dangerous"than any other semi rifle. It seems that banning an evil look would appease some of these ignorant law-makers.

You sure have it right. In some places, even toy guns are banned, because someone might think a toy gunis real!

it just goes to show you that as a spotsman and as firearms owners , we all have to watch what we say and do , as it will always be used against us by the anti-gun crowd .

and the religious group that's been trying to kill us isn't really all of that religious group , just a bunch of radical nuts who reinterpreted what thier law says , and are being led by a crazy anti-america nutjob. and our liberal friends are basically getting into bed with them to try to make piece with them , and it seems to help bring america down from her place as world leader ( NOW REMEMBER , I SAID LIBERAL , NOT DEMOCRAT ) and make us more like other nations that have many more problems than we do , such as government health care , where you could die before your turn to get help would come up . there's more but this isn't the right forum for it.

anyways , the main point is , is we as gun owners and sportsmen have to watch what we do and say , as we're always being watched and judged by others who are anti-gun , and looking for something to use against us .

Let the dem's shoot their mouths off. I can ignore their whining now just as I will when they're unarmed and asking us to help them when the SH** hits the fan. But seriously, I agree that now is a more crucial time than ever for the American people to be armed and readily able to defend themselves. Don't flame me here, I'm not ignoring them. They are a very swerious threat to our rights and way of life. This topic just makes my blood boil!

Was watching the news at noontime yesterday. A story came across the news about 3 men robbing a store in a nearby town, armed with knifes.
I had to think to myself......."Well, now what in the blazes are you gonna do about that, Nancy?" Can you believe that a crime was committed with something other than a gun???? Just what is the criminal world coming to? Why, all along we've been brainwashed that if you get rid of the guns, crime will drop dramatically. Now, here we have three individuals who commit a crime without a Gun, for heavens sake!! What could they have been thinking? Don't they watch the news???
I just can't believe how some people act nowadays...............

Having pretty much disarmed themselves beginning right around the time of WWI (although it is much worse NOW), the Brits had to beg us for guns early in their preparation for WWII. There were "gun drives" asking US citizens to DONATE guns to help arm their home guard, etc. Many fine guns were given to them by Americans. So, what do you think happened to those guns after Hitler was disposed of? Do you think the Limeys had kept records, so those guns could all be given back to the folks who sent them?

Hellno! They shoveled them into barges and dumped them at sea....

Das about the robbery being committed with knives. I notice that the latest idiocy from T. Blair, et al, is a ban on "sharp-pointed knives" in the U.K...... You know, such things a paring knives, steak knives, and heaven forbid a person should own a BUTCHER KINFE!

"The inmates are still running the asylum...."
