It depends a lot on what your gun likes. The standard twist for the 30-06 is 1 in 10", but he Browning B78 and Husquvarna barrels are 1 in 12" twist. I have a B78 30-06 that can put 3 shots in 3" at 300yds using factory winchester 150gr ballisticsivertips. It's just a hunting rifle so I haven't tried it any further than that. I wouldn't say that's very good for long range "sniping", but plenty good for hunting. My wife has a custom 30-06 on a mauser 98 action that will put my handloads using 150gr B-Tips and 50.5gr of Ramshot TAC into one ragged hole at 100yds. Haven't tried it at longer range yet. Not sure what the twist is on this one either.
