RE: need a 1911!!!
well i went to my local gun shop yesterday to see what a new in box springfield 1911 would run me,and he told me a little over $700.I think that i was finding them on gunbroker for like $500.What do you guys think,is $700 too much for a springfield?

RE: need a 1911!!!
That can't be the mil-spec Springfield for $700, they sell for under $500 everywhere. I bought one some time ago and had some stuff done to it for IPSC. I traded it in for a P-14. Stay away fron the S&W. Kimber is top shelf stuff for sure but the Springfield should serve you well. If you want hi-cap the P-14 would be a great gun. You should be able to find one used for around $500. The main thing is you're starting out with the right idea, a 1911.

RE: need a 1911!!!
When I shot IPSc I loaded my own. For fun use whatever FMJ you can find thats cheapest like UMC and the like. FMJ would be the best for a stock 1911. If you plan on using it for self defence make shure you break it in with at least 200-300 founds first . Then find a JHP round that your gun likes. Some semi-auto's are picky about what they like. I had several boxes of Black Talon's I kept for self defence. I've also had good luck with Speer Gold Dot ammo. Any quality JHP will do the job. 45 acp is a great round.
