It sounds like the "hunting community" has bought into it. Maybe you are the sap for not giving the WSM's some credit?

Ok grumpy pants, they're doing better than you think...I'm sorry WSMs and I upset you.....man you are funny!!!! I know my150 grain winchester supreme BST is going a good 3300 FPS when I hunt deer. I believe your Win Mag. is slower in that category. Correct me if I'm wrong. 180 grainers are almost identicle from what I've read in Guns and Ammo Magazine.?????

I really like the 300 WSM, it will do anything my 300 Win or 300 Wby will do on game animals with less powder and recoil. All 3 are pretty close to one another with 180gr and under bullets....animals wont know

Actually they don't load them hotter because that would be a safety concern and if that was proven..bad PR.. It's called scematics. My spelling might be wrong? The design of the case allows for a better powder burn which in affect delivers alittle more performance. If you think Winchester is falsely advertising this then that's your problem.

RE: best short action round
thanks for all the point of veiws out there. im still undicided about what to do, if browning and federal would link up to put an a-bolt in .338 fed togather i would already know what im getting. i like the 308 win because if im out west in some back woods place, and lose, forget, shoot my ammo a local hardwear store, gas station ect. would have something for me. im not a " long range" shooter, id rather get closer and hunt than shoot from 400 yards and kill. just my pref. and it IS shot placement that kills not speed and newnes. and i dont know why i like my brownings so much, mabe it was the year riding around Iraq behind a M-2 browning 50cal, she never let me down when my ass was on the line. so im probly at 60% for the 308win and 40% for the 300WSM. thanks to all.
