RE: SPS VARMINT
Grice's Gunshop in Clearfield, PA. sent their flyer out a short time ago advertising them @ $529.95, and you can get a $30 rebate..... They didn't have them in in 17 Rem. Fireball yet, bit I held a 22/250 in my hands and looked it over. They advertised them in:
17 Rem. Fireball
204 Ruger
223 Rem.
22-250
243 Win.
308 Win.
Sal ends March 15. Ph. 814 765 9273 email [email protected]
No, I don't work there... It's just a short drive from camp to there, and I do stop fairly often.

RE: SPS VARMINT
Found them and the price, I pay wholesale and they are $420.00. Interisting remington prices went down on some rifles and up on others, the 700VLS Varmint Laminated went down to $650.00. The 750 went down also don't remember how much though. Also the SPS varmint has the new X-Mark trigger.

I saw one at the store a week ago, and it's a cool looking rifle, only that it's pretty darn heavy, but I think the .308 version would be cool, but I already got a Model 673 in .308, and I'm happy with it.

RE: SPS VARMINT
I just checked one at at the local gunshop yesterday.
Fit an Finish didn't stand out, looked like the "cheap" finish they always put on their ADLs and now their SPSs.
The new trigger didn't feel any better than a regular remmy trigger. I did ask the guy behind the counter how easy they were to adjust, and he had no clue.
Then I picked up a Savage model 12 I believe, heavy barrel, blued, 22-250. Seemed to be alot nicer fit an finish and trigger than the Remmy.
Then I picked up a Tikka T3 Varmint in 22-250. By far the sweetest bolt, trigger did need to be turned down, but it was pretty good, not as good as the Savage out of the box tho.
Prices:
Remington 700 SPS Varmint - $550
Savage - $469
Tikka- $699
For the money I think the Savage looked to be the best deal.
