RE: Rifle cleaning
I clean mine after every range session andprior to storage. During hunting season usually just prevent but if warranted I will do a full cleaningdue toweather or heavy usage. While in storage I do regular prevents which includes wipe down &re-apply light coat of oil.

RE: Rifle cleaning
I run a patch with oil down my barrel at the end of the day if it has been fired, even if it was fired just once. I also use a cleaning cloth on it.
If I have been in a lot of dust or any form of moisture, I disassemble as much as possible and clean and oil everything. My guns are used frequently enough storage isn't a problem.
