RE: Tubb Final Finish Bore Polishing System
That's funny I was reading an article about this stuff last night. It seems fantastic.
After reading this article I have plans to use it soon.
The .308 kits contain 75 bullets of five different levels of polish conveniently numbered 1 through 5 in a neat plastic container. I followed the instructions with only one exception. The manufacturer wants you to fire 50 of the bullets (10 of each level of polish) and use the 25 "bonus" bullets (five #3, ten #4 and five #5s) later if accuracy deteriorates.
In conclusion, David Tubb's Final Polish System improved the accuracy of the Scout from 4.44" to 2.67", or 39.83%. It improved the RemingtonM700's accuracy from 1.61" to 0.99", or about 38.5%.
Finding: For $35 per weapon, this produced an exceptional accuracy improvement.

I have never used this system because I always hand lap barrels. This way,I can feel paticularly rough or tight spots. This is 1 of many steps I take on all my builds. ALL customers to date(25+ years)are tickled with their rifle accuracy.

I have used it and had horrible results. My first 300rum uses to copper foul so bad, my groups would fall after 10 rounds. So I did this and afterwards, my groups went from subMOA to 1.5-2MOA. I looked at the borescope before and after using and after, my rifling looked rounded off not sharp. Maybe I pushed the bullets too hard, but I know I will never do it again. Anybody want a new set of these bullets, let me know, I will give them to you.

I've been told my numerous people including gunsmiths and engineers to not use them. All you need to do is lap the barrel. Well, all barrels are lapped from the factory but hand lapping produces the best results.

I have used on 2 calibers with excellent results. My dad's old Mauser with the original barrel went from 2 1/2 inches to 1 1/2. I broke in a new barrel (it was an 6.5-06 Ackley) so I had to make cases anyway. I used 5 of each. The rifle shoots .6 inch hunting loads. David Tubb is the worlds best shooter and he doesn't sell things that don't work. You must follow the instructions carefully with frequent cleaning during the processbeing essential. Go here and read the info from the horse's mouth. http://www.davidtubb.com/finalfinish.html

I clean my barrel the old fashioned way, that way I never have to worry about it.

As to the question like others mentioned hand lap instead. I use JB bore paste, it may take more elbow grease but I have never ruined a barrel either!
