All I know is what I read. And I am shocked that American riflman has put out such a bad accuracy report twice on the benelli.

I have not shot any of the newer BAR's, but the ones I have shot were pretty accurate. The last one I had was in 30-06, and was manufactured in the early 90's. With the iron sights I could consistently hit a pop can at 100 yards. Man, I wish my eye were still good enough for that.LOL

I don't know about the Bennelis or the BAR long and short tracks. I've owned two BAR safaris and both shot acceptably for me. The 30-06 shot 1.5" groups @ 100yd with Rem 180 grain loads. The 308 shot 1.5" @ 200yd with Rem 150 gr loads. With both, though, that's first shot accuracy (I let the barrel cool between shots.) When I didn't let the barrel cool, the 30-06 would shoot it's first two within 2". It's third, fourth, and fifth strung to make the entire five-shot group about 3-3.5". Thats with about 5 to 15 seconds between well aimed shots off bags. I never did this with the 308 so no info for you there.
