When have you ever shot over 3 rounds at an animal? Not saying you haven't I've just never understood needing more then 1 follow up shot at most. Im talking big game not yotes and such.
The 270WSM is IMO a lot better if you reload and short actions are usually more accurate then the longer actions rounds. Not always but for the most part.
A 270win is much more popular then the 270WSM but the WSM has only been out a few years so its hard to really compare them. The 270 with a 130 grain bullet is prob the best combo for whitetails you'll find. And since the WSM is a bit faster is also a bit flatter with the same combo.
The WSM's are the most popular sellers in the last4 years or so but mainly the 300 and 270WSM's. Nothing wrong with the 7mm it just hasnt caught on as easy.

Here's the real difference.. In most rifles you can fit 5 270 Win rounds in the mag, while only 3 270 WSM...

Yea I agree, Dont get my wrong the 270 is perfect for deer and you wont be disapointed with buying one. Most hunters looking for hunting accuracy buy factoryammo and do just fine with the outcome. Im sure good ol' green box Remington coreloks have killed more deer then anything.
Thats why I stated the WSM is better for the reloader cause usually all they shoot for as much accuracy and velocity they can get.
I've just never looked at capacity of rounds as a choice for which rifle to get.

I always used to hunt with a .270 win and i loved it. then when the wsm came out i wanted it so bad but never had enough money so last year i bought a brand new rifle and scope and spent about a grand for a 270 wsm and i like this better. it is hard to find shells unless you are in like a hunting store. you wont find them at any small town gas station or anyting. my box was like 30 bucks but they werent the cheapest but there wasnt any less then 20. for the win i would get them for like 13. i have shot a nice antelope buck(first time ever hunting antelope) with like a 225+ yard shot that dropped it in its tracks. i also got a really nice 5x5 that was like a 150 yard shot and again it dropped in its tracks. i had a group of 3 inlike3 inches and shot a group of 2 into one hole. idk i like the wsm alot.

270 all the way. They were killing deer and larger game way before the short mag came along. Yes it is true the wsm is a little faster but in the field I don't think you will notice it. The Weatherby 270 mag is even faster ( I think). However I wouldn't mind having one. I am just sold on the old 270 through experiences in the field. Merry Christmas guys and gals.

The 270 WSM is a nice round to shoot but will admit it’s not as popular as the 270 Win and ammo is more expensive . I just prefer short actions on my rifles...

The 270 WSM, does overpower the .270, but, that doesn't allow you to hunt any larger game with it.

only thing you will notice is more recoil and more money spent on ammo. i've killed over a hundred deer with the 270 win without a problem. the wsm guns are alot harder on barrels too.............
