ordered my new gun
went up hunting in maine on the 22nd. stopped at kittery trading post and ordered my new stalking/stillhunting gun for next year...
after debating on picking the BAR safari ( which by the way felt so nice when i brought it to my shoulder felt like an extension of my arm ) but unfortunatly the rounds i could go by were rather less open than the BLR. since i already have a 308win and a 30-06sprg and that i really don't need a 7mm mag or 300win mag or a 25-06rem for stalking deer, no less up in maine.
the BLR fit nicly for quick shots. but not as good as the BAR. but i thought the 7mm-08rem would be a better round for what i wanted to do with it and in the case to. to put a VX-II in 2-7X33mm on it down the road.
so i ended up getting the BLR lightning in 7mm-08rem . hopfully it will be hear before next hunting season

RE: ordered my new gun
My brother has a BLR 81 in 7mm-08, and it is one of the greatest "walkin' around the woods" rifles of all time. Takes deer and elk out to 250 yards or so with no problem.
I had the same rifle in .284 Win and it was also an awesome little woods rifle. I sold it, however, and I am still lamenting the day I did. <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>
Congratulations on an outstanding purchase. By the way, my BLR 81 also wore a Leupold Vari-X II 2-7x33mm scope. Perfect combination!

RE: ordered my new gun
i trade them in as fast as i buy them sometimes.
i am into quality not quantity now a days...
all i need now is a browning BAR to my list. i had to trade the BAR in 7mm rem mag to get my 35 whelen. but i think it was well worth it !
