RE: Recoil Pads Suggestions?
Thanks for the helpful post. I know that the felt recoil probably will never match, but my percieved recoil is what I'm looking to change. When I used to shoot rifles often before the injury, I couldn't tell the difference in percieved recoil from a friend'sindentical rifle in 7x57 and my .30-06. Granted one is 15lbs of energy and other is 17.5 (.30-06) or so, I just had it in my mind they felt the same. That's the general effect I'm looking for when I say .243'ish, I'm looking for the best recoil pad I can to make me percieve the recoil is no worse than a .243 going off. So perhaps I should have worded it more like I want a good pad to reduce the felt recoil enough so that my percieved recoil is closer to .243'ish? Dunno, frankly, I sometimes have issues expressing accurately what running rampant through my mind.
If my stock was hollow, I may actually try that. But it's an older model, pre-2001 with the recessed stock, or as I've seen others call them, the canoe paddle. And I'm with you on the hearing protection, min of plugs when hunting, muffs when at range.
