Default restoring old stevens

my aunt recently gave me her husbands old .410 (believe its a stevens)that his grandpa gave many years ago. its it real bad shape and has rust and pitting everywhere but i said id do my best to clean it up. whats going to be my best bet to clean it up. ill try to have pics up tommorrow morning (forgot my camera downstairs and im to lazy to go get it now )

where can i find information online about it like year it was made and where at and if its ofany value.

To clean it up buy some bore foam and let it sit in the bore for several hours, and then check the cleanliness of the bore, if its still dirty, repeat the process, next, you will need some kind of gun oil to remove all of the rust, now, I'm not going to recommend one brand over the other, so just look for a strong oil that will remove rust, also, you may want tolook into getting some gun bluing, so after you remove the pitting, you can refinish the gun. And about looking up the value, you should be able to find a website that specializes in gun identification.

I'm restoring an old stevens side by side as well. I found MOST of the parts I needed at Gunparts.com (except the forestock - can't seem to find those anywhere).
