if you could have (for free) any rifle to have, but you coul only keep that rifle and no other guns that you alredy have. what would you get. what calibre would you get it in. (im trying to maybe get an idea for a new rifle if i can afford it)
I would get a Remington model 710 in .270 calibre

RE: New Rifle
Don't understand why I'd have to choose between one single rifle and all other makes/models/types of firearms but ok... proberly if I was simply limited to one single firearm and it had to be a rifle, I'd choose a marlin 336 in .30-30. It it's a rugged proven action, and the chambering has been proven for MANY years to be a grat hunting cartridge. With accellorators, it's great for the small game animals too. Ammo of some sort is always available at even the smallest out of the way shops/stores.
Were I simly limited to a single longgun (rifle) Id still perhaps make the same choice buta Ruger #1 in .45-70 would be a VERRRY close second to puch this336 out of the top spot.

I'll take a winchester pre-64 model 70 in .270 winchester followed by the same model but in .338 winchester , thats my vintage choice.
For a new rifle ,a Dakota 76 on 30-06 followed by a Kimber 8400 in the same caliber.
