Because the Ruger# 1 is ugly, and it is a single shot.
Some on HNI would argue this, I quote,"The No.1 is sexy."
Sexy? Maybe if you like fat girls.

I hadn't planed on voicing an openion on the Ruger #1 vs. the Savage, but I guess I must do so.The Ruger is a very beautiful rifle, and I'd love to own a few of them. I do agree it is over priced and with no justification. The Savage on the other hand will stand neck and neck with any rifle any where priced under $2000.00 in the accuracy department, bold words I agree, but I cant find any real proof to dispute my claim. And for a $300-$600 rifle with one of the best triggers available, we come to the decision; just what makes a rifle attractive to you. Looks or preformance. It's true some of you can spend any ammount you wish for a hunting rifle but some of us cant. I'm just glad we have an accurate and dependable choice.

The Ruger #1 is about as much of a 'fat girl' as Elizabeth Hurley or Halle Barry.

Ugly guns would be:an SKS, Ruger Mini-14s, Savage 24F-20s, Remington SPR18s, Browning Semi-auto 22s, Browning Model 60s, CZ 527s (WTF is with that box???) ...[:'(] (sorry if I offended anyone with these - to each their own, I guess. )

Maybe so. Butmost of the male population would still be envious.

edit: (and I guess if you call Oscar-winning underperforming... )

I actually think the Ruger mini-14 is cool, because it looks like an M-2 Johnson rifle, which is similar to the M-1 carbine.
