I had a Camo stock and forearm blued bull barrel 300 Win Mag for 3 years. I origianlly paid an even $500.00 for just the gun. I mounted a Weaver base and rings (never again kept twisting the scope everytime I tried to sinch it down) and put a Leupold VX II 3x9x40 on it ($300.00). Over all I had a little over $800.00 into the gun. I shot 2 eight points and a seven point with it. Absolutely loved the gun. Had to sell it a few weeks ago to afford some X-mas goodies for the kids. Only condition was momma had to agree to let me buy another one this summer or early next fall. I will however be buying a stainless barrel this time. Blueing was starting to wear at the end of the barrel? IMO best rifle I have ever owned. Hope this elaborates a little to all interested in the Thomson Encore line.
