New to hand gun hunting, need a little advise!
Howdy,
This year I purchased a 15" 25/06 barrel for my Encore and I have a Simmons 2-6 power scope mounted on it. I've got her dialed in shooting (from a bench rest) 2-1/2" groups at 150 yards. SO I think I'm all ready to head to the woods and take me a white tail!
What my question is now, is how do you hold it still in the field!
I bought an adjustable height bi-pod, and that secures the barrel quite well, but is there any tricks to what I'll call "long range" hand gun hunting. I shot at a doe Saturday night from 130 yards and completely missed her!!
Thanks for your time and help and happy hunting!

Use the bi-pod or shooting stix. You can also use a tree or downed log as a rest. The best thing you can do is practice. Start out close and move out. There is no cure all when it comes to long range shooting. I own a .357 mag and shoot very well with it. When I started I thought I could go out to 40 yards and just aim and shoot. I found out how wrong I was when I didn't hit the target in 20 rounds. I started over shooting at 10 feet and moved my way out.
