Not a big report as the range was busy and the temps a little cool I fired three shots to get on zero with the Aetec scope then had the wife move the target to 100 Yards. I took one more shot to make a final adjustment then fired three shots which fell into a group just under one inch. Pretty typical for a 700 Rem with factory loads.

I was shooting Federal Premium cartridges with the 140 grain Nosler Ballistic tips. The box advertised 2800 FPS but from my 24 inch SPS they actually clocked 2740fps Average for five shots with a high shot of 2759 fps.

I have part of a box of Nosler Balistic tips that I plan to load tonight. After the season I will load some 120 TXS unless I get ambitious sooner. I had to shoot from my wheel chair today so I am sure the groups will improve with a little fine tuning by hand loading. I shot about 15 rounds or so. NO SORE SHOULDER.. that 7mm-08.

I am similarly impressed with the soft push of 7MM-08's recoil. You can actually enjoy shooting one of these. I would also expect that the 140 Ballistic Tip would perform at its optimum at 7MM-08 velocities.

Every so often I have to test fire a gun that's not so pleasant - like a 30-378 Weatherby or 416 Rem Mag. For that, I drag out the Caldwell Lead Sled. No need with the 7MM-08.

Roskoe. Several years back I had the first chronograph in the community. A friend ask me if I would chronograph some loads for him on A weekend. I said I would meet him at the range. When I got their he handed me 20 rounds of 416 Rem Mag ammo that he had reloaded with several different charges. He said he was afraid he might hit my chronograph so would I shoot them for him. I shot 18 of them but I could not pull the trigger on the 19th one. REALLY, No matter how hard I tried, I could not pull that trigger again. Never saw anything like it before or since. It was a Dakota Rifle which weighted next to nothing even with the 2X Luepold scope. My collar bone and shoulder hurt for a month and really has never been the same since.

I just set down now and reloaded the rounds I shot this afternoon I reloaded the 140 NBT with 40.5 Gr of RE-15. I hope toward the end of deer season that I will get to try it out. Yes that should be a very good velocity for the 140 BT.

James... Yup... My 7mm08 is NOTICEABLY milder to shoot than my .280 or several .270s that I have shot...Very pleasant.

I've killed a number of deer with 140 BTs at around 2800 fps MV.. I'm sure your rifle will work well with your load, considering the accuracy you are getting...

I'll be looking forward to comparing notes with you when you load up your 120 Barnes TSX...I'l be hunting deer with that bullet this year for the firet time...

I will get a few loaded to chronograph and test for accuracy. The secret behind the sucess of the 7mm-08 is thats its fun to shoot and therefore promotes lots of practice which converts to excellent shot placement which in the end is everything. IMHO. With very good shot placement the 7mm-08 has all the punch needed for most NA big game.

i'm tossing up the idea of a .308 as a general purpose rifle. is the 7-08 noticeably lighter in terms of recoil than the same rifle in .308?
