Ok so I found the newrifle I want to get Remington 700 SPS, but still not sure what caliber I want (My first rifle other than the little .22). Really Ithink I should get it in a 30-06, but mybuddies like and saythe .270 is the way to go. Note I live in Louisiana (mostly woods hunting) No huge feilds and praries like that, and I just want the overall all around caliber.

LW: Congrats on your purchase. I've got a couple of ADL's, a .30-06 and a .243, and they both are outstanding rifles. You'll enjoy your .270for sure.

Well guys I ended up getting a used Remington Model 700 ADL synthetic in .270 WINwith a Tasco 3-9x40 scope. The gun was my dads boss and it is in excellent condition. I payed $300 for the gun, and it shoots extremely well.
