I'm afraid I've gotta agree with duck butter. Leupolds are good scopes, but they are old technology, and not the best in their respective class. If I had to do over again I'd have bought Nikon Monarch's rather than my pair of VX-II's. Live and learn I guess.
What "old technology" does Leupold use that Nikon has improved upon? Is the Monarch line, their top of the line scope? Exactly what "class" are you listing Leupold in?

Three acctually (three bad ones that is). Two Nitrogen leaks and one that would not track. Considering the number of total scopes I came in contact with, it was way too many. Too many problems. Hence, Schmidt and Bender...

I have an older model Leupold Varx2on my 25.06 and just recently picked up a Nikon Prostaff at a price i couldn't refuseand put on my 30.06. I have to say the Nikon has really impressed me with it's brightness and clarity but i personally don't think it's any better than my old Leupold. Both are very good scopes andi would buy either again and not think twice about it.
