So why didn't the shop or you find it before purchasing the rifle? And how could you not notice it when boresighting the rifle or mounting the scope? If it was that far off it should have been very obvious. You should have never fired it that way, just put it back in the box and returned it for a different one.
I work in a factory, when you have that many people making that much product things get overlooked. You hate to see it, but it happens. Don't doubt for a minute that the same thing doesn't happen with ruger, remington, winchester, marlin and browning.
I was a little harsh in my last post, I apologize for that, it was late and maybe I had too much cafeine. I only drink it on weekends. Doesn't change the way I feel though. I have seen poor quality from every gun maker in my life, however they all make fine products for the most part. You want crap pick up a Siaga AK variant. That will put things into perspective for you.
Or if you want you could spend twice the money and get a ruger that is bigger and looks nicer, may not shoot well, but heck it costs more and looks nice right? Truth is the savage and marlin guns are the best bang for the buck in out of the box accuracy for the 17 rimfires. Which is why they sell like crazy.

Paul, I didn't notice it until I realized there was a problem. Once I took the scope off, I could see it. The other thing that struck me was the ripples down the barrel from the belt sander. They're just silly rifles and I knew better. Everything Savage has made since the great Model 99 has been garbage.
