Does anyone know about the Mossberg Chuckster .22 mag?

And here we see that sometimes digging up old threads does in fact work! Welcome to the forum Irishdemand. Hopefully uncle matt can get you the info you need. That's a nice looking rifle!

A Mossberg 640K Chuckster was my very 1st .22 mag, and the very 1st rifle I ever bought, going on 40+ years ago. If not for the house fire, I'd still have it! It was sudden death on the local groundhogs, that were so used to my personal imposed distance limit with my old Remington single shot model 514 in .22 short, long, or long rifle, that over 100 yards they would just stand there & whistle at me. Now with my newly acquired 22 mag in hand, I could bust groundhogs all the way out to 150 yards, and a bit further when head shooting. We ate everything we shot back then, and I grew quite fond of groundhog. I also discovered if you use FMJ or solid jacketed bullet loads you could shoot squirrel, rabbit, etc with no more "bloodshot" meat than a 22 LR HP. The 640K is more accurate (the examples I've seen shot or shot personally), than you can hold, even scoped from a rest!
