BuckHarden, I have read more bad reports on Remington than Savage lately, but I do visit several forums. Most of the negative stuff has to do with the Mod 710, but some also on the 700, although I think operator error is likely the culpret. If you want the most accuracy for your dollar Savage will win every time. If you would rather have pretty than preformance then buy Remington. By the way the last scope to go south around here was a Leopold, so more money doesn't always mean better. JMO, Glenn

Sorry but Remington = performance and pretty. I only know there people that have bought savage in the last year and none of them would shoot better than 2 1/2 inch moa. and these are not operator error. But I will agree the 710 equals crap.

#2 Have you ever heard of the Null hypothesis of statistics. How it basically worksis we take a statement like "all savages are good shooters"and assume it is true. This implys that the possility of finding an inacurate savage rifle a very slim probability. When a sample is taken of the population at large (in my case a model 11fns .308), and the resultis very different from what we would expect given the assumption,along withthe slim probability of such a result given the assumption, suggests that the assumption itself is false.
Basically, Savage does produce lousy shooting rifles on occasion.

rcw280, I'd be willing to bet you have three friends who can't shoot a group with any gun! To claim that three savage rifles just happen to be that inaccurate is possiable, but I can't remember ever hearing of one, and there are lots of those rifles arround here. Your bias against savage is very ovious. So go blow smoke up someone else's bu==. cause I aint buying it!

I personally have had 5 Savages and never had an accuracy problem with any of them or, reliability issue, I can definently see that some people just hate Savage, and will base this on very exaggerated occurences. All of you who claim to have had "accuracy" problems, give that same gun to someone else, and I'll bet it will shoot differently, but basing your opinions on an entire brand of firearms, when you have only seenmaybe a few incidents, is ridiculous, you don't see me hating on Remington, because I have seen 6 model 710's crap out in my tenure at a local range, I could say that Remington was a terrible company, but I know better, anyway, thats just my .02 cents.
